10 Comforting Bible Verses

We all face struggles in life. Whether you’re the most successful or the wealthiest person, you’d stumble at some point. It’s just inevitable. Problems are just all too familiar for all of us.

So today, I am sharing some beautifully comforting verses that I’ve loved and found peace with, many many times, especially during hard times. I hope you will find comfort and peace in these too.

1. For I know the plans that I have for you“, says the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

Imagine how comforting it is to be reminded that regardless of what you are and what is happening in your life, God has plans for you, and those plans are far greater than the plans you have for yourself.

Our God is a good and loving God. His plans for us will never cause us harm, because he meant no harm. So, be assured of the fact that God always has a plan for you and that plan always includes what’s best for you.

2. When the time is right, I, The Lord, will make it happen.”

Isaiah 60:22

We have our setbacks, our frustrations, our disappointments, and our waiting seasons. Because it is not in ours, but in God's right time that things will fall into their right places. We have to trust His timeline. Good things come to those who wait.

His time is always perfect. His ways are better than ours! Find comfort in that.

3. I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you.

2 Kings 20:5

God hears our prayers. He’s listening to us and he’s giving us exactly what we want but in His own way. Maybe his way is different from ours but His way is always the right way.

Let this verse remind you that our Lord is not deaf nor blind. He notices your pleas and the desires of your heart. He will wipe your tears and heal your soul.

4. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Joshua 1:9

Battles are part of life, and whether we like it or not, it can be pretty scary. But the fact that God is with us in every battle gives us the strength not to be anxious and be brave instead. It gives us the assurance that whatever happens, God is always there, ready to pick us up.

God wants us to fight our battles with Him. He doesn’t want us to be alone. So if you find yourself fighting a battle, do not be discouraged and do not be afraid because God is there. God is with you.

5. And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and those who are called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28

Loving God and trusting Him don’t mean that we will live a life free of pain and suffering. We will still suffer, we will still shed a lot of tears, and we will still be disappointed.

But this verse reminds us that God will use our sufferings and disappointments for good, not just his good, but our good. Every heartache is part of His ultimate plan.

Thus, let your trust and faith in God be your confidence that He is using every struggle for the best. Our task is to be faithful to Him, letting the difficulties of life be part of God’s work in and through us.

6. I will never leave you or forsake you.

Hebrews 13:5

Take comfort in this: No matter where this life will take you, what choices you will make , the mistakes you will commit, how far you wander off the path, or what you will try to wedge between you and God, He will never leave you. He will always be there.

In this life full of changes, He will be your constant. He will be the type of love that stays.

7. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Psalm 139:14

You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Worthy of love and all things good. You can overcome any obstacle that hurdles your way. You are capable of changing your life for the best.

Love yourself in all your forms, don't doubt yourself. You are God's child, and and you are loved.

8. I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

John 16:33

Take comfort in this: No matter how big you think your problem is, God is far bigger than it. He is far more powerful, far greater, far stronger than what is weighing you down.

If you have God who can go against you? You will suffer, but you will never be defeated.

9. The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.

Psalm 37:23-24

Our God is a loving God. He will not give us more trouble than we can handle because God is not the giver of trouble. God is the giver of life and the source of love and blessing. He may allow us to stumble, but He will not allow us to completely fall.

10. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me."

2 Corinthians 12:9

In Him, we can do all things. When we surrender our control and allow God to take the lead, when we let go of our fear. When we take a deep breath and hand him our sufferings and pains, rather than trying to figure or fix them on our own, we allow God's power to rest in us.

So rest your head on His shoulder when things get tough and remind yourself that beside him— you will always be safe.
